Thanking The Police
I heard "Every Breath you Take" by the Police three times today. As soon as I got in my car to go to work, as soon as I was leaving - and once during the day when an actor played me a sweet remix of it off the Sopranos CD - I wish I could recall now what other song it was remixed with.
Not that this is particularly odd or interesting in itself. It's not a song I hear on the radio with that kind of frequency, though. It made me wander off into my head and think for a while. I enjoyed that. The rhythm of the song seemed to be with me all day, but not in that stuck-in-your-head kind of way. It was chill, and I thank the Police for my good day.
Very rarely do I thank police. Mostly I just make disparaging comments about police. *The* Police, though, I feel fairly deserve a thank you from me. And now they have it.
My days are running together, the way trees run together when you're watching them through the window of a train. I feel like I am just having one long day, one long day in a country where I don't speak the language. But, for some reason, it makes me like my life more.
My fortune cookie today read:
"At 20 years of age the will reigns;
at 30 the wit; at 40 the judgment."

I hear you on the days-running-together thing. For me, it's been either "Heart Cooks Brain" by Modest Mouse running through my head during the endless three-week workday, or "You've Got Her In Your Pocket" by the White Stripes. It might be different if the days presented more different stuff, like if a lion got loose at the FDAP offices, or if hot female UPS messengers were showing off nipple piercings every day at 3:30. Instead, days run together.
I can't really complain - if I weren't being a wage slave, I'm sure I'd mostly be wasting my time. And I'd be fatter. Maybe someone should do a study on the relation of leisure time to happiness, and see if there really is a benefit to the whole constant-work/love-of-life thing.

Sean: I had no idea that your brain was the burger and your heart was also the coke!

God damn it. I really need to stop posting from Dianna's computer. Or at least pay more attention to which name I'm posting under.
